Lil Wayne Addresses Cash Money Records Feud On “Sh!t” Remix

Yesterday (January 13) Lil Wayne gifted fans with a new track off of his upcoming Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape.

Within the track, which is a remix of Future’s Honest album single “Sh!t,” Weezy addresses his controversial situation with Cash Money Records.

In between a slew of punchlines, Weezy raps “Did my time at Cash Money / Time served and release / But this agent ain’t free, word / That’s just word on these streets / But that shit is old news, that shit yester-week /
I’m just focused, focused on my expertise.”

The lyrics stem from Wayne’s public outcry to be released from his longtime label, Cash Money Records. Just last month, Wayne took to Twitter to address his concerns with Cash Money.

“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” he tweeted.

“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,” he continued. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u.”

While Wayne’s new lyrics aren’t exactly derogatory, they do serve as evidence his contract situation is still on his mind.

Safaree Samuels Says He Helped Nicki Minaj Write Her Raps

A very public breakup — centered around The Pinkprint album — has placed Nicki Minaj and her former boyfriend Safaree Samuels in a position where they’re sparring with one another via social media and press appearances.

Today (January 13), Safaree stopped by Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club to speak openly about his relationship with Nicki and why things seem to have crumbled.

“That was my soulmate,” he says about their once-discreet relationship. “Me and her were calling all the shots.”

Safaree also explains that their relationship originated in a group they both belonged to called The Hood$tarz. When things didn’t work out, Nicki decided to go solo and SB supported her.

“Every time it came to writing raps,” he says, “it was me, her and the beat. It got to the point where the respect was gone. I’m the one who packed my stuff and left.

“Everyone around her works for her,” he continued. “I was being treated like an employee instead of her man.”

Nicki’s rumored relationship with Meek Mill was brought up and DJ Envy asked Safaree if he was the one that introduced her to Meek.

“Yeah,” he replies. “But if that’s who she decides to move on with, it is what it is. I’m not mad. I’m not bitter. If I wanted to make it work, I could’ve made it work. She can take a picture with whoever she wants, she can get married tomorrow and be pregnant the next day I will wish her the best, but when you try to pull me down and discredit what I’ve done for you, that’s what’s weak to me.”

Safaree emphasized to the hosts that the “respect was gone.” So, when he heard the harsh lyrics on Nicki’s track “Only,” he says that he was numb to it.

“As far as the ‘Only’ song, that’s something on the outside people take as disrespect,” he says. “Maybe, I’ve been dealing with it for so long, it seemed like the norm to me. I got numb to it.”

Although it appears his ex has moved on, Safaree says he’s not trying to rush into a new relationship.

“I need to learn myself right now because I lost myself, so I’m trying to build myself back up,” he says. “I’m getting used to being around people again.”

French Montana Discusses Lessons Learned From Khloe Kardashian Relationship

French Montana recently spoke with XXL’s Editor-in-Chief Vanessa Satten for an interview that appeared in the publication’s winter 2014 issue.

During the conversation, French detailed his upcoming album Mac & Cheese.

“Mac & Cheese is like my baby,” French says. “It’s the first [mixtape] I put out right after we did Coke Wave, me and Max B. Mac & Cheese really stands for soulful music. So if you see the title and you’re already a fan of my work, you know I’m coming with epic music.”

French also revealed that he has between 90 – 100 songs already recorded for the album. Every day, he says he’s been listening to tracks, narrowing them down and learning new things.

French has also had to fend off relationship rumors for the last few months. His public courting of Khloe Kardashian covered tabloids everywhere, but dealing with the reality TV star has definitely taught him a lesson or two.

“What I learned about relationships on this side is that they last longer when nobody knows your business,” he says in the Q&A. “I’m very private when it comes to me and Khloe. Khloe is an amazing person, one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life.”

His Hip Hop relationships have been profitable. Fortunately, there are a lot of rappers French calls friends.

“Definitely Puff, Ross, The Weeknd,” he says. “I mean, there’s a lot. The whole MMG family.”

French has worked with each of the artists he named. When asked about who he still wants to collaborate with, French named several choices outside of Hip Hop.

“I would love to work with Coldplay, Taylor Swift,” he says. “Max B again.”

Terminally Ill Fan Passes Away Day After Meeting Eminem

Gage Garmo, who suffered from a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma, passed away yesterday (January 12) in his home, a day after meeting Eminem.

“Family members told staffers at the Rainbow Connection that Garmo died early Monday evening — a day after the rapper fulfilled the 17-year-old’s last wish by visiting him at home in Rochester Hills,” The Detriot Free Press reports.

The Rainbow Connection is a Michigan-based charity organization, which connected the Detroit rapper with the teenager from Rochester Hills, Michigan.

“Since 1985 thousands of Michigan children with life threatening illnesses have experienced their most special dream come true,” according to Rainbow Connection’s website.

Garmo fought with cancer since his freshman year at Rochester High three years ago. When his situation grew dire, community members rallied on social media to make his final wish come true.

“[He] was given approximately one week to live by doctors and so friends, family, and Twitter users started spreading the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem,” HipHopDX reported yesterday.

Eminem made the 20-minute communte from his Michigan home to visit Garmo Sunday (January 11).

“We’re told Em was adamant he did not want the visit to become a media spectacle — and quietly arrived to Gage’s home around 5PM Sunday,” TMZ reports. “The two spent around an hour together — talking and hanging out. We’re told the whole thing meant a lot to Gage, who was in good spirits during the visit and after. “

A candlelight vigil was held Monday night for Garmo at his high school. Shady Records collaborator Royce Da 5’9 announced the Eminem appearance early Monday via Instagram.

“Mission accomplished,” Royce said. “God Bless this beautiful kid and thank you guys for all your hard work…”

Eminem’s latest project, 2014’s Shady XV was released in November to four out of five rating by HipHopDX.

Kendrick Lamar Not A Top Five Lyricist, According to R.A. The Rugged Man

While speaking on Hip Hop past and present during an interview with Vlad TV, the conversation with R.A. The Rugged Man shifted to Compton, California rapper Kendrick Lamar. R.A. began to criticize today’s mainstream Hip Hop when he was asked about the TDE lyricist.

He then immediately shared his belief that Kendrick isn’t a top five lyricist. R.A. revealed that the rapper is a top five lyricist commercially and credited K-Dot’s success to the fact that he’s a good lyricist who happens to have the backing of Interscope Records.

The Long Island, New York rapper later added that King Los, Locksmith, and Elzhi are three artists who are better lyrically than Kendrick.

I don’t think Kendrick is a top five lyricist, R.A. The Rugged Man said. I don’t think he is. I think he’s a top five lyricist in a commercial market. I think Kendrick is a very good lyricist, but I believe the reason he’s so respected is because he has the Interscope machine behind him. And when you’re actually marketing a real lyricist” It’s refreshing to hear a real lyricist. Then they put you on the top. In my opinion, I think there’s a lot of rappers that can slice up Kendrick. I don’t think Kendrick is the best. I think Locksmith will slice him up. I think Elzhi will slice him up. I even think King Los will slice him up. Those are just off the head real quick.

Prior to speaking on Kendrick, R.A. The Rugged Man revealed that there is great Hip Hop being made today, but stated that there isn’t an artist out today who’s capable of impacting the culture as much as an artist like Rakim.

There’s great Hip Hop being made, he said. When you go to the whole My era’s better than this era and this era and that era, I understand it. Because when you come from an era of 88. With Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, that era is an untouchable, golden era. It is a climax. So, I went through the 90s spoiled cause I came up on these guys. Even in the 90s I was like Yeah, Q-Tip’s dope, Tribe’s dope, but they can’t fuck with Kane and Rakim. I was even doing that in the 90s.So, today I don’t think there’s a lyricist making an impact or impacting the culture as much as like Rakim did when he dropped. But I think there’s a lot of lyrical dudes doing a lot of lyrical shit that’s very impressive.
